What is your practice philosophy? I believe in client-centered care and allowing patients to direct sessions. I am a patient as well as a provider so know first hand how important it is to have a provider allow you to direct your own healthcare journey.
What are you passionate about? And why? Health equity, social justice, and universal design. When systems are made more accessible, entire communities of people benefit from improved healthcare.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I became an Occupational Therapist because I love problem solving and finding solutions that allow my patients to live their life to the fullest. My focus is always tailored to each individual person so I get an opportunity to get to know each of my patients personally. I'm honored to be an intimate part of their healthcare journey.
Something I have learned from my patients is: Aging, illness, or injury doesn’t mean that your life has to end – a new life gets to begin!
What are you most proud of? I am most proud of working in healthcare during a global pandemic. This has been an extremely trying time to be a healthcare provider but it has been so rewarding to work with patients who are positive for COVID-19. I know that I have played a crucial role in those patients having the ability to return to their daily tasks in a safe and rewarding way and I will always be grateful for that humbling experience.
