What is your practice philosophy? I believe in client-centered care and allowing patients to direct sessions. When you decide what the focus of your OT session is, you not only address your main concerns but you become more motivated to learn and improve!
What are you passionate about? And why? Health equity, social justice, and equal access for all!
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I became an Occupational Therapist because I love problem solving and finding solutions that allow my patients to live their life to the fullest! Occupational therapy puts the fun in functional and I’m honored to work with patients along their journey to a better quality of life.
Something I have learned from my patients is: Aging, illness, or injury doesn’t mean that your life has to end – a new life gets to begin!
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? I started meditating daily in 2020 and it has been the best thing I could have ever done for my mental and physical health! Before I began meditating, I thought it would be very simple and easy; now I know that meditation can be really challenging and difficult but that makes it so rewarding!
What are you most proud of? I am most proud of working in healthcare during a global pandemic. This has been an extremely trying time to be a healthcare provider but it has been so rewarding to work with patients who are positive for COVID-19. I know that I have played a crucial role in those patients having the ability to return to their daily tasks in a safe and rewarding way and I will always be grateful for that humbling experience.
