What is your practice philosophy? I believe in patient-centered care using the most up-to-date information in medical science while providing high quality treatment.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: National park ranger because I love exploring the outdoors and spending time in nature.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I was interested in becoming an oncologist because I wanted to apply scientific knowledge learned from the textbook and laboratory to help patients with their medical illness. I first knew I wanted to pursue this career when I was taking a cancer biology class in college.
Something I have learned from my patients is: It is very important to recognize that each patient is an individual with different goals and life stories. By listening to patients, I can provide personalized care.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): Keeping up with all the new treatments based on recent advances in science. This allows me to be a life-long learner and apply my knowledge to patient care.
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? The best thing I’ve done for my health is using an app that helps me reach my daily activity and food goals.
