What is your practice philosophy? Trust and teamwork. Building trust and getting to know a patient, their family, and their story is a huge part of oncology care. Then using knowledge of that person, their background, and their goals to work together to form an individualized treatment plan based on the most up to date science available.
What are you passionate about? And why? Taking extra time with my patient to answer explain any and all questions they may have, and working with them so they are fully informed when we make decisions together.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: An astronomer or a national park ranger. I love science, history, and the natural world in all its forms either light years away or only a few hours on an interstate.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I used to work in a lab during the week and a running shoe store on the weekends. I loved the science of the lab, but I also enjoyed meeting new people at the running shoe store and “prescribing” shoes. Being a physician was a great way to combine continuous learning and working with new people every day.
What are you most proud of? My two strong willed children.
