Practice philosophy: As an advanced practice nurse, I believe that each patient should be treated as an individual. The patient’s wishes come first, and therefore, each individual should be considered a partner in his/her own care. I believe keeping patients well informed and well educated is vital.

What are you passionate about and why? I am patient about promoting wellness and a healthy lifestyle. The benefits of a healthy lifestyle will result in fewer health problems, better mood and energy levels, improved memory and brain health, among many other health benefits.

Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I wanted to advance my practice to try to improve access to rural health and specialty care, specifically neurology.

What is something you have learned from your patients? My patients have taught me that each person and their situation can be unique, and sometimes you just need to listen.

What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? In medicine, we are constantly learning. I look forward to studying and staying up-to-date on the most evidence-based practices and treatment plans.

What is your personal health goal? Promote wellness

What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Exercise!!!

What are you most proud of? My whole career. I started as an associate's prepared entry-level nurse. I worked full-time and raised two children, all while going to grad school.

What are a few of your personal achievements? Greater than 3.5GPA in my master's program; Completion of my MSN in less than 2 years; Successful completing a thorough neurological exam and history
