Hometown: Born in New Richmond Wisconsin , grew up in the Twin Cities, lived in Pennsylvania for 40 years.

What are you passionate about? And why?      I am passionate about caring for the elderly.   Their medical problems are just one factor, you cannot just look at the disease but at the whole person.  Factors such as level of function, the environment for which they live in and the people who support them add to the complexity of their care that challenges me and keeps me engaged.  

If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: I would work at a university and work as a nursing instructor for undergraduate nurses.

Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you?      I have always wanted to be nurse, it started when I had my tonsils out when I was 6 years old.  I wanted to care for people just like those wonderful nurses who took care of me.

Something I have learned from my patients is: I cannot expect a patient to accept restrictions in their life that I personally would find unacceptable.
