Hallee Adamsheck, MS, CGC is a certified genetic counselor at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and United Hospital.
Practice philosophy: In my practice as a certified genetic counselor, my goal is to help patients and their families to better understand their cancer risks and management options. For some, it can be valuable to better understand why a diagnosis may have occurred. It can also be powerful for families to have knowledge that might allow them to be proactive in addressing these risks for the future.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? My interest in a career as an oncology genetic counselor began with experiences with cancer within my own family. This has driven my passion toward helping families navigate through these experiences.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is: Knowledge regarding hereditary cancer risk and appropriate management is rapidly evolving. Despite many exciting advances in the field, there remains so much to be learned.
My personal health goal is: to run at least one race each year.
