What is your practice philosophy? I provide both clinical excellence and compassion for the very personal health needs shared between a patient and their physician.
What are you passionate about? Eliminating disparities in health care. All women and families should have access to the best, most holistic and cutting edge medical care and be made to feel welcome in receiving that care.
Why did you become a provider? It was important to me to have a career that combined my love of learning with a life mission to care for others.
Something I have learned from my patients is: People do the best they can for where they are in life. There are many practical barriers to taking care of ourselves: time, money, energy. We all know we should eat better, exercise, take our medicines, etc, but actually doing those things is not so easy! One of the most important things I can do as a physician is help troubleshoot the practical aspects of following through with the things that we know help make us healthier so you can get the most out of your efforts to care for yourself.
My personal health goal is: To incorporate regular exercise into my family life. We try to mark special occasions and holidays by taking a hike instead of having a big dinner that no one really wants anyway.
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? Whenever I “fall off the wagon” with exercise I find the best way to get back into a regular routine is to get into the pool. I enjoy swimming and water aerobics classes.
What are you most proud of? I’m at a point in my career where I feel a really nice balance between my professional and home life. I really enjoy the work I do and being a present parent for my three sons.
