He was previously an assistant professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Goessl is the director for transcatheter valve therapies, the director for both, the interventional and structural heart disease interventions fellowships, the director of the left atrial appendage occlusion program (Watchman) and the director of congenital interventional therapies at the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute. Dr. Goessl specializes in structural heart interventions, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR), MitraClip/Pascal (M-TEER), transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement (TPVR), transcatheter tricuspid valve repair (T-TEER), transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement (TTVR), left atrial appendage closure (Watchman), and ASD/PFO closure.
His research focuses on community screening programs for valvular heart disease, increasing education, and access to structural heart disease interventions for underserved populations. Additionally, he studies biomarkers that may predict the structural deterioration of bioprosthetic heart valves.
He earned his Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health Executive Program in 2025.
He is a registered Yoga teacher (RYT) and embraces Yoga as a mind-body exercise and lifestyle intervention that can be incorporated into advanced cardiovascular care.
