A graduate of Yale University, Dr. Cantrill received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed both his residency in Ophthalmology and a fellowship in Diseases and Surgery of the Retina and Vitreous at Washington University in St. Louis. He was a full-time faculty member at the University of Minnesota Department of Ophthalmology from 1978 to 1988, when he joined VitreoRetinal Surgery. He is currently a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Cantrill is this year's recipient of the George T. Tani, MD Humanitarian Award. He specializes in retinal and vitreous surgery, diabetic eye problems and macular degeneration.
