What are you passionate about and why? I'm passionate about education on why we recommend what we recommend, and what your options are to manage your health care. I try to supply information that lets you make good choices for yourself.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? A teacher.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I was pursuing research in molecular biology and found I could get better support in clinical fields--and then discovered I liked practicing medicine. Circa 1991.
What is something you have learned from your patients? Never assume you've seen it all. Always listen to the story.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I like solving problems and offering options and solutions where they exist.
What is your personal health goal? More walking.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Walk more and eat more vegetables. The Blue Zone books are helpful.
