What to expect
Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders Patient Education Series will include three webinars during November.
Webinar 1: Understanding Epilepsy | Thurs., Nov. 5, 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. CT
In this first webinar, epileptologist Armin Jewell, MD, will explain what epilepsy is, the different types of seizures, and how epilepsy is diagnosed. Learn about common symptoms, diagnostic testing, and the importance of receiving an accurate diagnosis to guide your treatment. Discover the role of an epilepsy specialist and how specialized care can help you better understand and manage your condition.
Webinar 2: Finding the Right Treatment | Wed., Nov. 11, 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. CT
In this second webinar, epileptologist Ram Sankaraneni, MD, will discuss the different treatment options available to help manage seizures and improve quality of life. Learn how anti-seizure medications work, how treatment plans are individualized, and what to expect when starting or adjusting medications. Discover practical strategies for managing epilepsy, including identifying seizure triggers, tracking symptoms, and working with your care team to achieve better seizure control. We will also discuss how to recognize when your current treatment may not be working and when it may be time to explore additional treatment options.
Webinar 3: When Medications Aren’t Enough | Tues., Nov. 17, 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. CT
In this third webinar, epileptologist Uma Menon, MD, and functional neurosurgeon, Pat O’Brien, MD, will explore advanced treatment options for patients who continue to experience seizures despite taking medication. Learn what drug-resistant epilepsy means, when to consider an evaluation at a comprehensive epilepsy center, and why continued seizures do not necessarily mean you have exhausted your treatment options. Our specialists will explain how Allina Health's Level 4 Epilepsy Center provides comprehensive evaluations and individualized treatment plans to help patients explore the full range of available options.
Whether you are newly diagnosed, have been living with epilepsy or seizures for years, or are supporting a loved one, this webinar series will provide valuable information to help you take an active role in your epilepsy and seizure care.
You’ll have the opportunity to submit questions in advance and participate in a Q&A with the presenter at the end of the webinar.
