I received both my undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. I performed my internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Following my residency, I did a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Children's Hospital medical Center in Boston, finished in 1981. During this period, I also served as research associate for the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard School of Medicine.
I am board-certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics in both general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology.
Since 1983, I have served as Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. I have been an advisor to the Minnesota Chapter of the National Foundation for Ileitis and Colitis. I have also served on numerous medical staff committees for Minneapolis Children's Hospital.
In my leisure time, I enjoy being with my family, playing sports and listening to music.
