I am a hospitalist who specializes in the care of hospitalized patients. I work primarily within the hospital setting, managing the day-to-day medical care of patients. While patients are unable to establish regular care with me, my role is to ensure you receive continuous and focused attention from admission to discharge and assist in ensuring a smooth transition. After your stay, please follow up with your primary care provider.
Practice philosophy: I have a commitment to provide comprehensive, family-centered care, prioritizing the well-being of child(ren) by partnering with their families for optimal care.
What are you passionate about and why? Educating children and families about health care and how they can do this in their own homes. Teaching why health prevention is super important for children, such as routine sleep schedules, proper nutrition, brushing teeth to prevent cavities, discussing germs, and more.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? I would be a teacher or social worker, still something helping children.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I had a terrible labor experience, it was my moment where I realized that I would listen, explain, and help my patients. To strive for the best experiences where they want to come back again.
What is something you have learned from your patients? To always listen because each patient is completely different and unique. I have learned recipes from parents and different facts about animals from my patients.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I like making terrified children not afraid of healthcare by making it fun and showing them that going to the clinic or staying in the hospital isn't scary.
What is your personal health goal? Getting healthier for my family.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Being a nurse typically means putting others healthcare needs ahead of your own. So, I'm still working on bettering my own health by getting exercise as much and as often as possible.
What are you most proud of? I'm most proud of my children. They are all officially teenagers, who are growing up to be intelligent, hardworking, and respectful young adults. I'm excited for who they end up to be.
What are a few of your personal achievements? Giving birth, twice! Completing nursing school while having two young children, becoming a guardian for my little sister, and completing my nurse practitioner program while working full-time.
