Practice philosophy: Provide empathetic quality care, while educating patients, and collaborating with peers, superiors, and subordinates.
What are you passionate about and why? Patient education. I like to empower patients to make the wisest decisions. Exercise physiology, I studied this at St. Cloud State University between undergrad and PA school. My faith and my family. Boating, working out and sports.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? Chef or a boat mechanic.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I have wanted to work in medicine my whole life. It found it interesting, and I grew up wanting to help people. My wife is a PA, once I learned more about that role, I worked hard to become a PA.
What is something you have learned from your patients? Developing authentic connections allows for a higher quality of care. Teamwork makes the dream work.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I enjoy the challenging pathology present. I like the team environment of the OR. I believe it allows me to integrate my leadership skills, my mental capacity, and my skilled hands/feet.
What is your personal health goal? Be healthy and fit enough to provide the best care for my patients.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Striving for and playing college football gave me a distinct edge in health and fitness. Also taught me excellent leadership skills. I was told to avoid pop at a young age.
What are you most proud of? My wife and my four boys. Becoming a PA. It is a very rewarding career. Also playing division one football.
What are a few of your personal achievements? 6.5 years of practice as a neurosurgical and orthopedic spine PA. MS in PA studies at Rush University. Football: Played in college at USAFA, NDSU, and St. John's University Collegeville, MN.
