If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? A musician.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I became a provider to make a meaningful impact through compassionate care. As an interpreter, I saw how providers transform lives, building trust and connections, which solidified my career choice.
What is something you have learned from your patients? I have learned resilience and gratitude from my heme-oncology patients, whose strength, courage, and hope taught me patience, empathy, and appreciation.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I enjoy working with all patients, including noncompliant ones, seeing it as an opportunity to build trust, provide education, and address barriers to improve health and achieve better outcomes.
What is your personal health goal? My personal health goal is to maintain a balanced lifestyle with regular exercise, healthy nutrition.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? The best thing I've done for my health is regular exercise, which boosts energy and stress management. I've also learned to take time off to destress and prioritize self-care to better help others.
What are you most proud of? I am proud of overcoming life's obstacles to build a career helping others and supporting my family and community in achieving their goals, making a positive impact in their lives.
What are a few of your personal achievements? Surviving civil war built my resilience, and adapting to different cultures enriched my perspective, shaping my personal and professional growth.
