What is your practice philosophy? My practice philosophy is focusing on healing. Everyone defines healing differently and my role as a clinician is to help individuals navigate that definition and be part of their journey through evidence-based practices, humor and compassion.
What are you passionate about? And why? I’m passionate about decreasing the stigma related to mental health. Everyone experiences issues with their mental health at some point – this can be from a job loss, change in health, weather changes, etc. I believe that it is essential to normalize talking about mental health, approaching others with the view of compassion and recognizing that mental health looks different for everyone. I am passionate about helping decrease shame and stigma in working with clients/patients around mental health and helping individuals prioritize their mental health as they would their physical health.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: Originally a cosmetology student, I was interested in helping individuals achieve their aesthetic beauty goals. My goal was to travel and do theater makeup. However, I loved the opportunity to connect and talk with clients more than I loved the artistic side of the profession.
Something I have learned from my patients is: Something I have learned from clients/patients I have worked with is the incredible amount of resilience and strength that individuals possess. I have been able to witness amazing success stories of individuals who has experienced extreme traumas/loss and have been able to meet their goals through a lot of hard work and healing. I never take for granted being a part of someone’s incredible journey of healing and the amount of work it takes individuals to be present and put in the work.
My personal health goal is: My personal health goal is to model for my children that health can be incorporated in everything we do and it doesn’t need to be difficult. It can be through dancing, taking a walk before bed, recognizing how we feel after eating nutritious food, trying fun recipes, prioritizing sleeping.
What are you most proud of? I’m most proud of my children and my family. We are raising two amazing children who are kind, funny, and intentional. I am proud when I see them treat others with respect and choose kindness.
