What is your practice philosophy? Prevent diseases before they occur. Prevention is key to leading a healthy and happy life.

What are you passionate about? And why? I am passionate about the older adult population. My first job as a teenager was as a nursing assistant in a long term care facility. It was through that experience that I discovered my passion for caring for others, particularly the elderly.

If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: Healthcare is ever changing as is the way we provide care. I enjoy the challenges this presents because it leads to lifelong learning and the ability to provide evidence based practice. 

Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I was a registered nurse for almost 20 years. My compassion for others led me to further my education. Now I can care for individuals while teaching them and providing them the tools for which to best care for themselves.

Something I have learned from my patients is: One thing I have learned from my patients is the importance of building a trusting relationship as a foundation for providing the best care.

What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? One of the best pieces of health advice I have received is to never underestimate the importance of a good night’s sleep. No matter what age, sleep carries with it so many benefits including an improved immune system, a healthier body, improved mental health and a happier social life.

What are you most proud of? Studying to become a nurse practitioner while working as a nurse and raising three children.
