Adam Aldahan, MD

What is your practice philosophy? I strive to have a patient-centered practice that educates patients in addition to treating their skin conditions. By explaining disease processes and rationale behind specific therapies, I hope to provide better patient understanding to improve long-term outcomes. 

What are you passionate about? And why? Teaching and learning. Throughout my training, I have been passionate about teaching those around me including students and patients. Being able to help those around me learn, grow, and succeed has always been an internal driving force, and has helped me solidify my knowledge base in the process. As Albert Einstein once said, “if you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” 

If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: Teacher because I enjoy helping others learn and grow. 

Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I became a resident physician about 4 years ago and knew this was the career from me from a very young age. I have had an interest in medicine for as long as I can remember. 

Something I have learned from my patients is: Patients do not fit the textbooks. Always listen to your patient’s words and tailor treatment based on their goals and wishes. 

One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): Solving a diagnostic puzzle. I enjoy being able to tap into all my knowledge and resources to figure out a difficult case. 

My personal health goal is: To maintain an active lifestyle that includes strength, conditioning, and flexibility. 

What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? Eating well. Everything starts with what you put in your body. 

What are you most proud of? My wife, who balances being a rheumatology fellow and a super mom all in a day’s work. 

What are a few of your personal achievements? I ran a full marathon in 2016. I also have been teaching myself Spanish for the past few years in my spare time and am not too far away from being fluent.
