John Berger, DO
My specialties:
- Critical care
- Pulmonary medicine
Professional interests:
- Lung diseases, obstructive
- Bronchiectasis
- Pulmonary Hypertension
Practice philosophy: My practice philosophy is to focus on a joint plan between myself and the patient, so we can focus on the problem as the patient sees it, and develop a treatment plan to help improve the symptoms and outcomes. No two patients are the same.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about delivering the best patient care possible, and doing everything within my power to advocate for my patients.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? A professional runner because this is what I spend most of my time doing when I am not practicing.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I have always known that I wanted to help people. As I studied biological sciences, and through specific relationships with family & friends, I discovered the best way to help was through medicine.
What is something you have learned from your patients? That each patient is unique. Unique in how they experience and perceive their problem. And unique in how they need to be treated.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? Figuring out the best way to satisfactorily treat pulmonary disease.
What is your personal health goal? To keep moving!
What are a few of your personal achievements? In my quest for personal fitness, I have completed more than 50 marathons.
