Jared Colvert, DO
- Family medicine
"Family medicine is a specialty that is built on relationships," he said. "Caring for people and families at different points in each life demands not only an understanding of medicine, but of each individual person and their goals. Family medicine is a specialty that incorporates all of these things into the care of the patient."
Within the specialty of family medicine, Dr. Colvert has special interests in several areas: preventive medicine, diabetes, hypertension, geriatrics, and osteopathic manipulation.
Being a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) means that Dr. Colvert has additional training in osteopathic manipulative treatment. The treatment has similarities with the work of chiropractors and physical therapists. Armed with a deep understanding of the musculoskeletal system, osteopathic doctors use their hands to diagnose and treat symptoms related to various health issues, including ear and sinus infections, back pain, and headaches.
"I'm a firm believer in shared decision making," he said of his approach to patient care. "I really enjoy helping patients find and meet their health goals, so that they can live more fulfilling lives, less hindered by health problems."
Dr. Colvert said one of the most fulfilling aspects of his practice is watching patients meet their health goals.
In his spare time, Dr. Colvert is a busy family man. His wife, Melissa, have two boys: Harrison and Henry. Together, the family enjoys biking, fishing and camping.
