I am a family medicine physician with professional interests in outpatient procedures, like joint injections, IUD/Nexplanon placement, sutures, incisions and drainage and circumcisions; diabetes, hypertension and pediatrics.
Hometown: North St. Paul, MN
I am passionate about: working with people of all age ranges to determine their health goals and help them reach those goals. As a physician, my role is to provide patients with the most current data and recommendations to assist in informed decision-making. I strongly believe in the biopsychosocial model of health in that the well-being of an individual is more than just biology and physiology.
I became a provider because: of my love caring for others and of science. I was decided after a career research project in 8th grade.
If I wasn't a physician, I would be a: teacher. I have always enjoyed teaching, and fortunately, I have continued to have that opportunity through working with patients and medical students.
One of the best things I have done for my health is: bike to work. It's great for my health and the health of the community and environment.
Something I have learned from my patients is: that the story is the most important part of the office visit. Patients have insight into their health and if you actively listen, a better plan of care can be made.
One of the challenges of this career is: learning about new and better methods to care for patients. Medicine is a never-ending pursuit of knowledge.
