Listen to me on The WELLcast: Benefits of adaptive sports for kids with disabilities
I have a keen interest in removing barriers for people with disabilities to participate and/or compete in community-based adaptive recreation and sports activities. I have had a terrific opportunity to develop and expand a multitude of activities for people of all ages and all abilities. I derive great satisfaction in helping provide the tools for people to gain mastery of a particular skill or sport. I thrive on developing relationships with volunteers, funders and businesses within our community that allow for increased opportunities for people with disabilities to experience the benefits of active lifestyles.
I practice what I promote. Living in northeastern Minnesota affords my wife, two teenage sons and I a wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. From coaching my sons' youth hockey team and riding fat bikes in the winter, to family canoe trips in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, we take full advantage of the gifts this community offers to those who seek an active outdoor lifestyle.
