What is your practice philosophy? I work with your providers, educate about medications and conditions, and adjust medications to maximize their effect. I will take action to correct drug therapy problems and follow up to ensure a resolution. I combine clinical evidence and personal preference with the goal of empowering people to make informed decisions about their medications and about their health.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: Flower Farmer – I love being outside, enjoy rolling my sleeves up and getting to work and doing something that brings joy to people’s lives!
Something I have learned from my patients is: Everyone has had their own experience with medications and no two experiences are alike. That means there is no one-size-fits-all approach to what works either. I enjoy getting to know people and providing the information they need to make decisions about will work best for them. I am passionate about Whole Person Care and making medications work for your life.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): I love making the complex world of health care easy to understand. Between doctor’s appointments, new medications and insurance claims, being a patient can become a full-time job. My hope is you walk away from our time together with fewer healthcare stresses and more free time to live life!
My personal health goal is: to eat veggies with every meal (even breakfast!). The number one treatment for many health conditions is improving what we eat. I know I feel better when I fuel myself with healthy foods.
What patients are saying about Mckaya Kastner:
"Mckaya Kastner is a top shelf pharmacist in my book. As an RN, I may know basic pharmacodynamics & pharmacokinetics, but having Mckaya help me to understand more completely is so valuable & I am so grateful for this service."
"I have lots of experience with years of taking different medications. This was my first experience with a clinical pharmacist, and I learned a lot from her. My only regret is this was never suggested to me sooner! Fantastic resource!! I would recommend to all who take meds!!"
