About Wheelchair Softball
Wheelchair softball has been a dynamic and exciting sport in the United States for over 50 years. It provides a platform for individuals of all abilities to showcase their athletic skills and pursue competitive triumphs, embodying inclusivity and inspiration. Participants from diverse backgrounds practice weekly and compete in summer tournaments, all aiming for a national championship. Wheelchair softball is played on hard surfaces with a 16-inch ball, allowing players to keep control of their wheelchair while catching the ball without a glove. Athletes with various disabilities, such as amputations, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, congenital disabilities, and trauma injuries, contribute to the sport's inclusive and motivating spirit. USA Wheelchair Softball is the national governing body for the sport.
