Breastfeeding and Lactation Basics

As research has confirmed the benefits of breastfeeding for both mothers and babies, more women are choosing to breastfeed. Two keys for successful breastfeeding are education and support. This class includes both an introduction to the basics and ongoing support of breastfeeding. Your partner or support person is encouraged to attend. Topics include: preparation and suggested supplies, care for the mother and  nutrition, nursing your baby (how soon, how often, how long), how to tell if your baby is getting enough, how partners and others can help, and learning the behavior of a nursing newborn.
